Safety Guide for Florida Asian American Community

The Florida Asian American Justice Alliance (FAAJA) designed the Community Safety Guide to address real-world safety concerns and empower the Asian community in Florida through evidence-based action.

The development of this guide was driven by several key factors:

❋ Addressing Widespread Safety Concerns

A statewide safety survey conducted in late 2025 revealed that 52% of Asian American adults in Florida are worried about their safety, and 14% have experienced physical harassment.

❋ Filling Information Gaps

FAAJA identified a critical lack of awareness, finding that 55% of youth were unaware of existing safety resources.

❋ Protecting Vulnerable Youth

The survey highlighted a significant need for intervention among youth, as 54% had experienced verbal bullying and 60% had witnessed harassment

❋ Combating Bias and Hate

The initiative is central to FAAJA’s mission this year to focus on anti-hate efforts, helping the community stand against bias and protect their shared heritage.

❋ Responding to Community Demand

The guide serves as a response to the 91% of youth who explicitly expressed a desire for safety training.

❋ Proving a Strategic Roadmap

The guide was designed to provide a clear, actionable roadmap for improving personal safety, mental resilience, and community security
